I Will Weave My Sadness

I Will Weave My Sadness is a meditation on the quiet rituals through which we learn to carry sorrow without allowing it to consume us.

Inspired by the ancestral symbolism of hair, the work reflects on weaving as an intimate gesture of remembrance, protection, and transformation. Every intertwined fiber becomes a threshold where grief is gently held, suspended between the visible and the invisible, until time and breath can soften its weight.

Hair has long been regarded as a living thread connecting body, memory, and spirit. Like woven textiles, it preserves traces of our existence, absorbing absence, longing, tenderness, and resilience. In this diptych, strands of fiber echo the language of hair, creating a tactile landscape where pain is neither denied nor hidden, but carefully transformed into a gesture of quiet strength.

The act of weaving becomes both ritual and resistance: an invitation to slow down, to gather the scattered fragments of the self, and to discover that healing often begins with the simplest movements of the hands.

Delicate yet enduring, I Will Weave My Sadness speaks of the invisible architecture of emotions and of the silent wisdom passed from one generation of women to the next—a knowledge that teaches us not to fight sadness, but to hold it with care until it can be released.

This work was awarded  in “Hair Through the Artist’s Eyes”, a competition organized by Alfaparf Milano Professional in collaboration with the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, recognizing artistic research that explores the symbolic, cultural, and emotional language of hair.

Like every woven thread, sorrow is never erased; it is transformed, becoming part of the fabric from which we begin again
