The Leaf Project

e:collective – International Collaborative Project

Leaf Project explores the invisible connections that bind artistic communities across geographical, cultural and disciplinary boundaries.

The project began with a single 3D-printed leaf.

Rather than remaining an object, the leaf became a traveller.

It was mailed from one artist to another across different countries. Each participant welcomed it into their own practice, creating a new artwork inspired by its presence before carefully sending the same leaf onward to the next artist. The object accumulated stories rather than ownership, relationships rather than permanence.

Like a leaf carried by the wind, its journey unfolded through chance encounters and shared responsibility.

The project proposes an alternative understanding of authorship. Instead of celebrating the individual artwork, it embraces process, exchange and collaboration as creative materials in themselves.

The travelling leaf became a witness to multiple landscapes, studios and artistic voices, quietly weaving together a dispersed community connected by a shared concern for sustainability and ecological thinking.

Just as every leaf belongs simultaneously to a tree, a forest and a larger ecosystem, every artistic gesture exists within a network of reciprocal influence.

“Leaf Project” reminds us that creativity, like nature, flourishes through connection. Nothing grows alone.
